  • 16 ounces spaghetti pasta
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ¾ cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 48 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Boil salted water in a large pot and cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions for about 2 minutes; add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and sauté briefly, then add marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer for 5–10 minutes.
  5. Mix in cooked spaghetti and stir in ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese until well-combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and remaining Parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover with foil (sprayed lightly to prevent sticking) and bake for about 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow cooling slightly before serving; garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
